TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (www.ting.com) -- Iran will hold a meeting on Syria Sunday, with the main objective being realizing reconciliation between different parties involved in the country‘s conflicts for a peaceful settlement of the sis, Iranian officials said Saturday.

Some 200 political representatives from Syrian ethnic groups, minorities and opposition, along with representatives of the Syrian parliament, will gather Sunday in the Iranian capital of Tehran for the National Syrian Dialogue Meeting, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

A day ahead of the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi told IRIB TV that the Islamic republic is optimistic about the outcomes of the meeting, expressing hope that the meeting can pave the way for peaceful negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition groups.

Commenting on Tehran meeting on Sunday, Jalili pointed out that the meeting with the objectives of denouncing violence and acknowledging democracy is a practical initiation of the Islamic republic to end violent measures in the Arab state and to settle the country‘s issues through dialogue between the sides.

Mehr reported Saturday that political figures from Sudan, Algeria, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq are expected to attend the Tehran meeting, and Iranian foreign minister will give an opening speech.
